Test Bed Supervisor

Test Cell Set up Phase

• Liaise with Test Cell Contractor as point of contact for ME Team
• Liaise with ME Team to co-ordinate facilities requirements for Test Cell Installation
• Become lead engine tester for hack, correlation and initial phase production testing
• Review the principal contractor’s technical documentation against the day to day operation of the test cell and produce locally controlled procedures to ensure that the test cell is compliant with the defined quality system
• Learn the test cell systems to the level required to provide technical support for production testing
• Identify key consumables to ensure adequate stock holding of spares for the test cell
• Trending and analyses of production test data to ensure correct operation of the test cell
• Monitor maintenance activities and logs to identify signs of possible hardware failure
• Ensure control and backs ups of critical test cell software is carried out

Operational Phase:

• To liaise with Operations Manager and Shop Floor Supervisor to understand incoming workloads and agree engine test priorities
• Liaise with Operations Manager and Shop Floor Supervisor requesting resource when required to support testing due to staff absences
• Liaise with Engineers requesting their support/assistance in respect of engine related test problems
• To lead and motivate team members to achieve best practice performance standards, measuring output accordingly and identifying opportunities for performance improvement
• Allocation and utilisation of resource to meet the test schedule taking into account the quality approvals, primary product knowledge and experience of personnel
• To ensure that the team understands their responsibilities/ obligations regarding compliance with Company Procedures, Quality, health & safety, and OEM standards
• Actively maintain training in line with approvals process and cross-training plans to ensure test facility team members are fully approved, a flexible resource, and able to test a variety of engines

General duties

• Ensure that processes and procedures are in place to ensure all functions operate efficiently and to regulatory and company requirements
• Allocate and utilize resource effectively during non-productive periods
• Carry out regular team meetings to ensure that communication links are maintained and the team is updated on Team/company/organizational information
• To monitor the test facility maintenance and calibration schedule to ensure that the test facility is kept serviceable
• To ensure relevant scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is carried out using appropriate resources
• To carry out first stage fault finding and aid the Test Engineer in identifying and resolving test bed problems
• Ordering of all relevant consumables/equipment in accordance with company procedures
• Maintain the Test facility to a high standard of housekeeping
• To carry out testing of engines when required in accordance with Aero Engine Tester Job


• Maintain company approvals
• Administration tasks relevant to the resource, facilities and equipment within the test facility
• To be part of the Test local management team and provide feedback on relevant issues within the team & facility
• Maintain positive working relationships with all internal departments and attend meetings when necessary
• Assist the Operations Manager in setting budget requirements including monitoring & administration of the allocated budget

• Adhere to the Company Information and Protection Policy (IPP)
• Comply with statutory requirements and regulations and Company requirements
• Carry out any other reasonable request which is for the benefit of the business
• Assist in the training of team members ensuring best practice standards are maintained
